Get Involved with European Voluntary Service (EVS)

The Cyprus Youth Council in the European Year of Volunteering organized multilateral Youth Education Program which took place 24 young people from 10 European countries. Title of the training program was "Get Involved with European Voluntary Service (EVS)". The program took place between 14 με June 20, 2011 in Paphos.
The issue with which young people were involved during the training program was voluntary youth work offered by the European Voluntary Service and the promotion of volunteerism around the world in general. The training program conducted by experienced members of the Pool of Trainers in Cyprus Youth Council, under Action 4.3 of the European Programme "Youth in Action". This initiative aims at promoting dialogue between civilizations, enhance cross-cultural collaboration, the effective development of human societies, multicultural diversity of European solidarity and the promotion of volunteerism. During the training program were several workshops, lectures, discussions and other activities in which special emphasis on how to volunteer in the process of finding a partner, in the conditions facing the volunteer, the rights of the volunteer, the similarities and differences in youth culture, the culture, language. Also discussed such diverse topics as the problems facing young people, occupations of young people in each country, entertainment and education of young people and exchanged views on issues relating to youth such as unemployment, respect for human rights, xenophobia, social exclusion, participation of young people and gender. Participants also had the opportunity to talk with Cypriot people, where through constructive dialogue on volunteering, put forward the best in European Voluntary Service and the purposes intended, and the conditions prevailing today in Europe. In terms of the participants presented their views on issues Volunteer, and the circumstances prevailing in their country. Also the participants through the cultural evenings organized, had the opportunity to showcase the country and culture through films, presentations, traditional dancing and cuisine.
