Kick-off meeting in Guatemala

First of the international activities of the international project Think Global, Act Local was the Kick-off meeting in Guatemala held in December 2010. 

One representative from each of the participating countries (a professional youth worker who will support the national project team after) came to this 7-days-long meeting. This was the official opening of the project.

The project was introduced at the meeting and the representatives of the participating organisations will have a chance to meet and discuss concretely about all the activities of the project. It will be also an opportunity for them to discover the philosophy, aims, activities and target groups of the other organisations and exchange experience.

There was several workshops introducing participants to the topic of global challenges. They had a chance to discuss and reflect about this theme and clarify the exact sub-topics that should be dealt with during the following activities. They had a chance to exchange their experience in this field and discuss about the methodology that can be used to work on these topics. Like this, the project can be shaped by its participants themselves.

The kick-off meeting was the first chance to build a sustainable network of youth organisations around the topic of global challenges. During the kick-off meeting, we were also working on visibility of the project. There was a press conference where we invitec also politicians, local authorities, media, other NGOs and young people for a public presentation.
